Since the summer of 2005, repairing and reconditioning bikes has been an integral part of our work.
Each year, over 200 bikes are donated and subsequently improved and provided to those in need at a reasonable cost. In addition, each year we conduct 4-6 community clinics. These events involve setting up in a lower income community on a Saturday morning and partnering with residents to help get their bikes in working condition.
Over the years we have developed expertise and have increased our resources. Presently we have a permanent 3000sq/ft warehouse at the corner of South St and William St that permits us to repair bikes year round. We also have a 20 foot enclosed trailer that allows us to effectively run the community clinics.
In addition to the above, we have also run several bike repair seminars including an annual seminar for grade eight students at Lord Elgin Public School. We hope to expand this work in the future.
